Sales tax on your rentals
Your rates, added to every new booking automatically.
Open More, then Sales tax. Add your rate below and mark it your default — every new booking picks it up and adds it to the invoice, whatever "I’m registered for tax" is set to.
Whether a bounce-house rental is taxable where you work, and at what rate, is your state’s answer. We do not look it up and we never invent a rate. Ask your state’s revenue office, then put what they tell you in here.
"I’m registered for tax" decides what your documents may say, not what they charge. In the US there is no tax-number field here at all — a sales-tax registration number has no place on an invoice — so the switch only changes whether your business address is shown.
Outside the US, being unregistered is different: the law there requires a plain document with no tax line at all, so turning the switch off really does remove it. Turn it on once you are registered, and add your tax number — that field only shows where one applies.
Each rate says what it applies to. The unit rentals are one thing, delivery is another — some states tax it when you haul in your own truck and some do not — and the fees and add-ons are a third. Keeping them apart is what lets one booking carry two different answers.
Say whether your prices already include tax. That changes what your client reads on the document, not what you are owed.
A business address field sits on the same screen. Where your market also prints a tax number, fill in the address too and it prints alongside it.
Outside the US, putting a rate on a booking while you are marked unregistered gets a note: your documents will leave the tax line off. Clear the rate, or turn registration on if you are in fact registered.
Rate names have to be different from each other, so a document never shows two lines a client cannot tell apart.
